ARES / MOBILE APPLICATION SECURITY

See what your mobile app reveals.

See what your mobile app reveals.

See what your mobile app reveals.

Combine package analysis with real-device testing for Android and iOS. Investigate what ships in your build, observe how the app behaves, and give developers findings, captured traffic, and available device recordings they can review.

BUILD. SESSION. EVIDENCE.

Package analysis, captured traffic, and available device recordings.

ARES / MOBILE APPLICATION SECURITY

Mobile applications. Real-world proof.

Mobile application security testing, from build analysis to real-device behavior.

Your mobile build can reveal embedded secrets, risky configuration, and local storage issues. Real-device testing adds another perspective: how the app behaves, what it sends, and which backend services it reaches.

Ares combines Android and iOS package analysis with real-device assessment. Review package findings alongside captured traffic, exploration steps, and available recordings, with a clear distinction between a static finding and behavior observed during testing.

THE ARES METHOD

Workflow

Workflow

Workflow

Build the assessment around how your environment operates.

01

Pick the surface

Choose mobile application testing for Android or iOS.

01

Pick the surface

Choose mobile application testing for Android or iOS.

02

Pick your targets

Attach an APK or IPA and mark the current build. Keep earlier releases on the same target.

03

Configure the run

Choose static analysis, device testing, or both. Select modules and add sign-in credentials.

04

Review it

Confirm scope and settings. Sessions use the first compatible device—no handset or OS selection.

05

Launch

Get the report. Separately approve scoped, non-destructive tests of discovered first-party APIs.

Five steps. One controlled assessment.

CONTINUOUS OFFENSIVE PRESSURE

Capabilities

Upload a build and pick the phases you want. Static analysis reads the app itself: what the manifest declares, which components are exported, how data gets stored, the cryptography in use, and the SDKs bundled in alongside your code.

The runtime session puts that build on a real device and drives it, steered by what the static pass just found. Run both together, which is the default, or run one on its own when you only need the fast read or only care about how the app behaves once it is actually running.

01 / PACKAGE ANALYSIS

Investigate what ships in the build.

Upload an APK or IPA to examine supported code, resources, configuration, and security-relevant artifacts. Investigate embedded credentials, storage, cryptography, and network trust. Android and iOS analysis differ; assess a release build or one configured like it.

02 / AI-ASSISTED DEOBFUSCATION

Investigate what obfuscation conceals.

We trained the Ares model on more than 340,000 obfuscation and deobfuscation pairs, including ProGuard/R8 examples. This supports interpretation of obfuscated text and code artifacts. Recovery depends on the transformation and information available, not a guarantee of original-source recovery.

03 / REAL-DEVICE DAST

Watch the application behave.

Exercise supported Android and iOS builds on real devices. Provide test credentials or complete supported interactive sign-in to reach authenticated functionality. Analyze available session traffic, using static discoveries as context for runtime investigation.

04 / DEVICE RECORDINGS

Give engineering the walkthrough.

Watch the available device recording in the report, save the video, and share it alongside findings and captured traffic. Recordings show visible interactions; technical evidence explains the issue. If video is unavailable, collected exploration screens can provide context.

05 / BACKEND & MOBILE AI

Follow the boundary beyond the app.

Use discovered endpoints to scope a separate, authorized API assessment. Inventory supported bundled AI assets and SDK artifacts; analyze supported AI responses captured during DAST for disclosures. Applicable findings can carry MITRE ATLAS context.

TWO COMPLEMENTARY VIEWS

The build tells one story. Runtime adds another.

The build tells one story. Runtime adds another.

Keep package observations distinct from behavior captured during a device session. Neither a completed run nor an absence of findings proves the app is secure.

What Ares examines

Evidence to review

SAST / package

Supported code, resources, configuration, embedded secrets, storage, cryptography, and trust patterns.

Relevant package artifacts, code locations, and configuration.

DAST / real device

The screens and interactions successfully reached, plus available captured network traffic.

Requests and responses, exploration steps, and available device video.

Backend / separate target

Server-side authorization, input handling, and business logic within a dedicated API scope.

Evidence from the separately configured API assessment.

Android APK

iOS IPA

Decompilation, manifest inspection, secret detection, rule-based checks, and AI-assisted code review.

Extracted configuration, resources, supported readable code, and other available artifacts.

Static analysis differs by platform. IPA support does not imply full Swift or Objective-C source recovery, or identical Android and iOS checks.

AI-ASSISTED ANALYSIS

Trained to investigate what obfuscation conceals.

Trained to investigate what obfuscation conceals.

Renamed identifiers and transformed strings can obscure security-relevant information. Training supports contextual investigation rather than a universal decoder.

340,000+

340,000+

Obfuscation and deobfuscation training pairs, including ProGuard/R8 examples.

We trained the Ares model on these pairs to support identification and interpretation of obfuscated text and code artifacts. This figure describes training material, not detection accuracy, apps assessed, or a recovery success rate.

01 / ARTIFACT

Obfuscated text or code

02 / ANALYSIS

Interpret in context

03 / INVESTIGATION

Evaluate possible exposure

Recoverability depends on the transformation and information available in the build. No original-source recovery or numeric deobfuscation accuracy is promised.

Artifact

What it adds

Important boundary

Device recording

A visual account of the session’s screens and interactions; save available video for developer review.

Availability and visibility depend on the session and application protections.

Captured traffic

Technical context for runtime observations, including relevant requests and responses.

Traffic may be partial or unavailable; only captured evidence can be reviewed.

Exploration steps

The path reached by the device session; collected screens can help when video is unavailable.

Not proof that every workflow or authenticated function was exercised.

CWE / OWASP MASVS

Shared references for applicable findings and remediation discussions.

Mappings do not establish certification or complete compliance.

Coverage depends on an installable build, working credentials, reachable services, and successful traffic capture. Treat recordings as potentially sensitive when choosing recipients.
